This podcast episode narrates a real-life story of a business tycoon who has largely been forgotten. It is the story of his meteoric rise and shocking fall. Here was a flamboyant man who had built a vast business empire across four continents.

He had close links with two Prime Ministers of India and several heads of states including the former President and dictator of Costa Rica. He was the darling of the Lutyens high society circuit. For decades, his ships literally ruled the Indian seas.

When his downfall came, there was nobody to save him. The very people he had helped ditched him as if he were poison.

In the end, he died as a fugitive, lonely, abandoned, used and discarded. His story is a great cautionary tale of what happens if you get too close to the Nehru dynasty.

His name is Jayanti Dharma Teja, a highly prized durbari of both Nawab Nehru and Indira Gandhi.

Do watch this thrilling episode which reveals several unknown facts of recent Indian politics and business.
