Unsurprisingly, this essay has occupied the top slot for the most read and shared article on The Dharma Dispatch. It owes to the fact that the musical urban naxal, T.M. Krishna was constantly in the news almost throughout 2024 for all the wrong reasons. His serial invasions against the sanctity of Carnatic classical music and his attempts to taint the legacy of M.S. Subbulakshmi have deservedly earned him the fury of all genuine rasikas and votaries of Sanatana Dharma.

But on the broader plane, this also revealed the frightening grip that the conversion machinery has over Andhra Pradesh.

Duryodhana and Karna
Duryodhana and Karna

A multipart series critically analysing the much-celebrated friendship of Duryodhana and Karna. Based entirely on the original Mahabharata, this series attempts to show that in reality, there was no friendship between the two in the true sense of the word.

This is an in-depth commentary on half a decade of the sordid misrule of Jagan Mohan Reddy, the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and the dire lessons it holds for democracy.

Jagan Mohan Reddy's chief ministership was the closest to an unbridled despotism that any state has witnessed after India attained independence.

T.M. Krishna makes his appearance for a second time in this list of the most read articles on The Dharma Dispatch in 2024. This time, in an essay exploring the notoriety that Madras Music Academy earned by awarding the prestigious Sangita Kalanidhi to T.M. Krishna.

Sarojini Naidu famously declared that it cost the nation a lot to keep Gandhi poor. In 1932, Mohandas Gandhi stayed for several weeks in the home of Sarat Chandra Bose in Calcutta as his esteemed guest. And poor Bose had a firsthand experience of not just the cost of feeding Gandhi, but the full horrors that accompanied this endeavour.

The behaviour exhibited by Gandhi and his disciples in the home of Sarat Chandra Bose was witnessed by Nirad C. Chaudhuri. He has left behind vivid details of the whole charade.
